John: yep

Donick: Y X?
John: Exene came up w/ the name. We wanted to be just X (unknown quantity, 'sign at the', cross, etc) not "The ___" somethings. Why call yr magazine XYZINE ?

Donick: I don’t know. Recipe for something to eat?
John: beans, beans they're good for your heart . . . & SO easy to make. Our favorite come from Rancho Gordo in Cal.

Donick: Recipe for a song?
John: full life, open heart & mind, be brave, provocative, read good books & watch cool movies

Donick: What should we check out?
John: Skating Polly (young punk rock band from Oklahoma), Chet Baker box set from Concord Records, Blindspotting, movie from 2019.

Donick: Best and worst drug?
John: best : horses

Donick: What songs play in your head during your real life montages? For me “Popcorn” plays in my head when I do chores?
John: don't experience that but I usually think of my friends & what they might be doing as I hang laundry on the line. We don't own a clothes dryer

Donick: What question have you always wanted to be asked?
John: Q: How did you become so wonderful & glamorous.
A: hard work & good genes

John: As many people now-a-days, I seem to have a fairly open schedule.
